Past Projects

This group successfully co-constructed a student-designed sustainable community garden with the students and parents, integrating indigenous ways of knowing. The project created awareness of global challenges such as poverty, sustainability, and equity, with a particular focus on agriculture.

The Birge Street Meadow graces the heart of vibrant Hamilton, offering a haven of tranquillity to both patients at Hamilton Health Sciences – Regional Rehabilitation Centre and visitors from the surrounding area.

Working together with our major sponsor, RBC Insurance, as well as the Barton Village BIA, Beautiful Alleys, The City of Hamilton, The Golden Horseshoe Chapter of Landscape Ontario and the Canadian Nursery Landscape Association membership, this #GreenMyCity project creates a natural landscape that will improve community health and well-being in the Barton Village Community.

Green Cities Foundation teamed up with Scotts and the Boys and Girls Club – West Scarborough on Friday June 3rd to install four new raised gardens and planted veggies with the club kids. Thank you to Hank Deenen Landscaping Limited for installing the gardens, and to Sheridan Nurseries for the veggie plants! Thank you to all project partners mentioned above plus Communities in Bloom – Collectivités en fleurs, Canadian Nursery Landscape Association, Compost Council of Canada and Nutrients for Life Foundation Canada.

Steamworks Brewing Company, Para Space Landscaping Inc., the British Columbia Nursery and Landscape Association and the Green Cities Foundation have partnered to renovate an ignored and underutilized area in Burnaby, BC, to transform it into a public greenspace for the benefit and enjoyment of North Burnaby Neighbours and visitors of the area. Special thanks to the City of Burnaby and BC Hydro for supporting this project by providing the space and access.

In 2021, the Landscape NL Horticultural Association transformed another “Forgotten Corner” into a welcoming and vibrant community space at the intersection of Savage Creek Road and Logy Bay Road in the Town of Logy Bay–Middle Cove–Outer Cove. The redesign was led by AIRO Landscapes Inc., who developed a fresh and engaging landscape plan that revitalized the area. Construction was completed during the week of July 26–30, 2021, highlighting the impact of collaboration and community pride. Project partners and sponsors included Green Cities Foundation, Cadillac Services, Pat’s Plants & Gardens, Concrete Products, Murray’s Garden Centre & Landscape Services, and Evans Landscaping, whose support helped bring the project to life. This project serves as a lasting example of how the landscaping industry can positively transform public spaces and create beautiful, welcoming places for the community to enjoy.
